Kaari' is the result of the first collaboration between the Finnish design house Artek and the French designer brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. And I must say, I am quite fascinated by the extraordinary tables.
Their light and flowing contour, which could have been drawn with a single line, is probably the most impressive element of the design. It is actually a steel band and runs from the bottom of the table, over the legs into a base that playfully supports the weight of the table with ease. The two legs are made of solid oak and form the support for the table top.
By the way, 'kaari' means 'arch' in Finnish and probably refers to the two cantilevered feet.
