The 62 chest of drawers was actually designed by Greta M. Grossman as early as 1952. But since it was considered ten years ahead of its time, its name was unceremoniously predated. The sideboard illustrates the designer's penchant for unusual shapes and unusual combinations of materials.
The slender metal legs with spherical feet - a characteristic feature of Grossman - contrast with the sharp, rectangular shape made of luxurious American walnut, giving the furniture a characteristic lightness and making it appear almost as if it were defying gravity.
For added elegance, the deep black full gloss lacquer finish of the table top and the small solid wood balls of the drawer.
