Single sofa offset from 'Menu'

The Offset Sofa is the result of research by Norm Architects on balance. The studio wanted to design a sofa that is as simple as possible, while incorporating a number of paradoxes: It should look solid yet graceful, architectural yet inviting and homely.

In the studio, the designers experimented with offset - they played with proportions, with narrow armrests that meet a thick, generous seat, which in turn is supported by four sturdy metal legs. The linear, boxy shape is inspired by minimalist art, gently softened for an inviting expression and maximised for comfort.
