The Telares collection was born from the persistent search for new approaches that the loom has to offer.
By combining the techniques used in kilims and typical dhurries, the Spanish label Nanimarquina has created a unique series of textures and rhythm through the variation and pressure of the fibers. The changes in pattern created by the tension between weft and warp give the rug a nuanced look, evoking the most primal handwork: the artisan's persistent process of trial and error from which magical results emerge.
Much tinkering went into 'Telares' until the desired texture was created. The result is a loose kilim with curved shapes, unlike traditional kilims which are usually geometric and linear. It is hand-woven with Afghan wool.
Its rustic appearance and the irregularities of the wool make for a unique rug. Its curled fringes are remarkable.
