Model 597 by Gianfranco Frattini is the lamp that started it all. First released in 1961, it launched Frattini as a lighting designer – with a form that has remained truly unique to this day. The playful nylon fringes were inspired by the world of fashion and the fringed entrance curtains commonly found in Italy's bars and grocery stores in the late 1950s. A wink at everyday life, transformed into a design object.
The array of lateral bulbs creates a 360° play of indirect light, softened by the fringes to produce a warm, atmospheric glow throughout the room. The reflective aluminium cover adds further warmth to the uplight.
