Zurich-based Studio Ottawa has two main focuses: Hospitality concepts and handmade ceramics, both of which are characterized by a warm, yet stylized design. With Nebula, the new ceramic lighting collection for Serax, the studio went one step further.
Founder Nadine Ottawa worked with clay to create an object that highlights the beauty of the ceramic glaze. The result of this long design process is Nebula - a series of stylized lamps that flood rooms with light and emphasize the fine glaze of the objects.
Each luminaire consists of two carefully rounded ceramic shapes. A subdued light emanates from the two reflective discs, reminiscent of a cloud of mist in the night sky. Hence the name Nebula - a luminous cloud of dust that opens up a new dimension in luminaire design and adds warmth and comfort to any room, whether in a hotel or at home.
