Wall lamp Bestlite with brass frame

Designed by British designer Robert Dudley Best in 1930, the Bestlite wall lamp exudes simplicity and clean shapes in line with the Bauhaus school, from which the designer was strongly influenced. With its adjustable arm, both horizontally and vertically, and movable shade, the Bestlite wall lamp fits well next to a desk, as a bedside lamp, or in the kitchen where light needs to be directed.

The Bestlite lamp design was first adopted by workshops and the engineering departments of the Royal Air Force due to its high functionality. It was not until an article in the Architects Journal praising the 'Bestlite' as the first evidence of Bauhaus in Britain that the lamp came to the attention of the design conscious. Public demand for the Bestlite lamps soon followed, and when Winston Churchill personally selected the Bestlite BL1 table lamp for his desk, the cult status of 'Bestlite' was assured.

The Bestlite design remains true to its industrial roots and original design. Loved by architects, designers and design lovers throughout its long history, the 'Bestlite' has now become a contemporary classic that you can now bring home.
