Is it a lamp? Is it a hanging basket? It is both! By golly, there are some things!
The 'Flower Lamp' is not a lamp in the original sense of the word. It's more of a decoration: a small installation and a cool and decorative way to light your plants and flowers. Use a single lamp or hang them in small groups at different lengths.
Of course, you can also do as Poul Cadovius did in his exhibition space The Circle House and let the cable reach from the ceiling to the floor and place the lamp very close to the floor.
Poul Cadovius had an extraordinary ability to anticipate future consumer needs based on current trends. In 1948, he launched the Royal System wall-mounted shelving system based on the idea that furniture should not take up space on the floor, and it was also a current trend that gave him the idea for the Flower Lamp.
In the 1960s, many people used lamps in the garden to illuminate parts of the flower beds, and with the introduction of the 'Flower Lamp', Poul Cadovius made it possible to transfer this trend to the interior. And certainly, when designing the lamp, he was also inspired by the flower power movement of the time.
The design of the lamp is quite simple. It consists of two aluminum bowls connected by four stainless steel pins, with the lower bowl acting as a flowerpot that is illuminated by the light from the upper bowl. A simple but ingenious idea.
Now 'Dk3' is relaunching the model in anodized aluminum in brass. The revival of this wonderful retro lamp meets exactly the current trend of hanging plants and flowers, and combines the flower power vibes of the 60s with modern interior design.
