The new 'Barro' tableware collection for design specialist Hay has taken my fancy. It was created by Portuguese designer Rui Pereira and identifies itself with beautiful proportions and a rolled edge with recognition value. The latter gives the range a sense of stability and increases the ease of use, which I also really appreciate with my family.
The pieces are made in Portugal from durable terracotta and glazed with a range of great high gloss colors. Incidentally, this is where their name 'Barro' comes from - which means 'red clay' in Portuguese. It reflects the designer's admiration for the traditions and versatility of this ancient material.
The elegant, tall design of the candlesticks is complemented by a practical saucer, which not only provides a stable base but also effectively catches dripping wax.
Tip: the different colors allow you to create countless great combinations and look best when mixed together. The set of 2 comes in the same color.
