The shape of the Nuage vases first appeared in Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's work in 2002: as large plastic modules reminiscent of clouds, which can be organically combined to form groups and large compositions. Their surface is divided by eight tubular incisions, which together also form the outer contour. The Bouroullec brothers varied this basic shape and also used it repeatedly in their graphic work.
The Nuage vases in ceramic have charming, barely noticeable differences that indicate their elaborate craftsmanship - and which make each vase a unique piece. The undulating surfaces create a delightful interplay of light and shadow and the vases can be arranged to form entire "cloud formations".
