Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld designed the Crate collection in 1934 to make use of surplus wooden crates for transportation. The collection has now been relaunched in collaboration with Rietveld Originals and HAY. The Crate Dining Bench has been produced with respect for the original design and features the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and optimize the assembly process. The classic design of the bench is characterized by a gently sloping backrest and seat with supportive armrests. The simplicity and spatial design reflect the designer's architectural principles - providing functionality and comfort without taking up space. The Crate Dining Bench is made from solid pine wood and finished with a water-based paint in a variety of color options. It is suitable for a variety of outdoor areas and can be complemented with optional seat cushions in selected textiles for added comfort.
