Golden Bell by Alvar Aalto

Alvar and his wife Aino Aalto were commissioned in 1936 to design the interior of the Savoy Restaurant in Helsinki. The elegant Golden Bell pendant luminaire - the 'Golden Bell' - became part of this interior. It was also exhibited in the Finnish pavilion at the 1937 World Fair in Paris.

The pendant luminaire not only looks beautiful, it is also a real professional in terms of light and mood diffusion. The light of the 'Golden Bell' is limited at the bottom by the narrow shade. At the same time, however, the light can escape through the discreet holes, which are arranged in a ring around the edge of the lamp. The light shining through here forms a radiant corona, a ring of light that creates a special atmosphere.

The Golden Bell lamp was originally formed from a single piece of brass. Today I have selected other versions for you besides the classic one.
