Crate Dining garden chair from Hay

The Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld designed the Crate Collection in 1934 to make use of surplus wooden crates for transportation. In collaboration with Rietveld Originals and HAY, the Crate Collection has been reissued. The Crate Dining Chair was made with respect for the original design and features the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and optimize the assembly process. With its gently sloping backrest and supportive armrests, the chair reflects the designer's architectural style in its simplicity and spatial design - providing functionality and comfort without taking up space. The Crate Dining Chair is made from solid pine wood and finished with a water-based lacquer in a variety of color options. It is suitable for a variety of outdoor spaces and can be complemented with optional seat cushions in selected textiles for added comfort.
