Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld designed the Crate collection in 1934 to make use of surplus wooden crates for transportation. In a collaboration between Rietveld Originals and HAY, the collection has been relaunched. The Crate side table was made with respect for the original design and features the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and optimize the assembly process. With its square table top and additional storage space, the table reflects the designer's architectural style in its simplicity and spatial design - offering functionality and comfort without taking up space. The Crate side table is made from solid pine wood and finished with a water-based lacquer in a range of color options, making it suitable for a variety of outdoor spaces.
