The 'Egg Chair' is a real furniture classic that offers a feeling of security as well as an attractive retreat.
In 1958 Arne Jacobsen designed the egg for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. This originally shaped chair has since become a synonym for Danish furniture design all over the world.
The special thing about the so-called 'Egg Chair' is its shape, which is reminiscent of an egg shell due to its curved lines. Thus the chair invites you to sit comfortably and shields the seated person to the sides and back. In addition, the upper end of the backrest is curved and thus reminiscent of a classic wing chair. This makes a stay in the 'Egg Chair' a private and relaxing experience. The children can also pass me by like a little whirlwind...
Originally designed for the lobby of a hotel, it was Arne Jacobsen's intention to create an armchair that would fit into a high class environment while providing privacy in public places.
