Aldo Bakker is not a designer who likes to make a lot of noise. The Dutch artist and designer prefers to speak quietly - but what he has to say sticks.
The Bon Stool is a further development of his iconic Pink Stool from 2015, which was still made in Urushi lacquer at the time. It is now available in stained ash or mahogany and has lost none of its calm, almost meditative aura.
What makes the Bon so special? It plays with contrasts. Two contrasting shapes meet: an upright, deep vertical form and a flat, horizontal seat. Together they create something that is both a sculpture and a piece of furniture. Something that you look at and then sit on.
Serenity in wood. Simple, but anything but simple.
