ClassiCon Corker No. 1 - stool made of marble
The silhouette of a champagne cork served Herzog & de Meuron as inspiration for the design of the Corker furniture, which can be used as a stool or side table. The addition of a marble version to the popular product family accentuates the monolithic character of the design even more: the object made of colored natural stone looks like a sculpture in the room. "You could almost see the Corker as a pop art object, because it was created directly and without any significant sculptural transformation by enlarging an existing object in our everyday culture," says Jacques Herzog. The furniture made of polished or matt marble is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also highly tactile: the tactile properties of natural stone invite you to touch the material - the cool, smooth surface contrasts with the warm, velvety cork of the original designs.
