Max Bill's design for the cross-framed chair dates back to 1952, but fortunately the beauty of the chair was rediscovered shortly before the turn of the millennium and it was put into production in a re-edition.
The model shows Bill's abilities as a product designer and has already received several awards in the fifties, among others 'Die gute Form' of the Schweizerischer Werkbund.
The special leg construction by means of cross frame connection is an invention of Bill. It supports the seat in the middle and gives the chair the greatest possible static support. From a formal point of view, the contrast between the thin seat surface and the strong framework accentuates the technical structure and makes it appear powerful and three-dimensional.
And last but not least it is extremely comfortable.
