Book The Sun and her Flowers

I have to admit, I'm not usually that poetry guy. I like narratives and stories, also sometimes somewhat higher literature with depth and interpreation freedom.

But when I first browsed through Rupi Kaur's book, I somehow got stuck in the pages. The simplicity of the words, which conveyed so much more and created a whole world between the lines, captivated. In combination with the self-drawn illustrations of the author, you get a colored picture and immerse yourself completely in the book.

Anyone who knows the author's first book 'Milk and Honey' knows what to expect. For all newcomers, like me, get involved. It's worth it.

The Sun and her Flowers' is a journey - withering, falling, roots, rising and blooming. It is a celebration of love in all its forms.

'this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
case
root
rise
in order to bloom'
