A piece of furniture like from a movie! Or a museum!
This wooden bench bears the name Canton and was designed by Franco Raggi in 1988. It is equipped with two side shelves for magazines, books and phone books. For the younger ones among you: There used to be books this thick full of landline numbers. Crazy times!
The furniture was born from a graphic exercise: a black line that, in its continuous course, forms two squares connected by a horizontal line. When Raggi drew this line into the third dimension, he realized that the resulting body could be a bench.
'Canton' is not furniture for lounging, that much is certain. But it is a piece of furniture with a strong object character, which I really appreciate as an eye-catcher, especially in the hallway for tying shoes or in the living room.
A few books look particularly good in the squares that have been converted into open compartments. And the square surface above presents the fresh flowers from the market.
